End of the school year crazyness

I'm not sure which is more crazy, Christmas or the end of school.  My calender is always packed with activities or one last final school project.  It all started 1 1/2 weeks before the last day of school with Kennedy's trash N show.  All the 3rd grade classes participated in a fashion show made out of trash or recycling items around your house.  Then they invited all the parents to come and watch the children walk around in their trash.  Kennedy had a great time making her dress.  She made her dress out of a black garbage bag.  The circles were made out of left over construction paper.  The necklace was made out of the end of frozen juice concentrate and aluminum foil.  The shoes were her old sandals that didn't fit her anymore.  She cut off the buckles and straps and made them into flip flops that she covered in aluminum foil and glued a bow on it.  The purse was made by someone else.  It was made out of a paper plate and felt.  This was one of her favorite projects to date.

The day of the Trash N Show was also Jon's birthday.  He got a GPS for his car.  It has lifetime updates so this should last a long time.

The following day was Hayden's end of the year party.  It started out in their classroom with a little presentation by the kids.  There was Singing and telling us one thing they like best about Pre K.  Then they got a certificate.  Then it was party time.  All three of the Pre K classes met outside for a little carnival.  There were games to play, face painting, tattoos, cookie decorating.  There was also watermelon and Popsicle's to eat.  It was a beautiful day to be outside.  They ended with each class breaking open a pinata.  It was a fun day.  I can't believe my baby will be starting Kindergarten next year.  Where did all the time go?

On May 23rd, I made the mistake of  making 3 kids dentists appointments.  I guess I wasn't thinking 6 months ago when I made this appt that I would be crazy busy this last week of school.  Luckily all the kids teeth were great, and I was able to just make it to Hayden's Pre K teacher, Miss Catherine's surprise baby shower.
I don't mind going to all the kids end of the year parties, but what I do mind is going to field day.  It is crazy, usually hot, and long.  That is one event I skip.
Talmage's class party was the day before the last day of school.  It was a Mexican theme.  They had little sombreros to wear, sunglasses, maracas.  They broke a pinata, hula hooped, limboed, and ate Mexican snacks.

Payton had her farewell assembly in the morning of the last day of school.  They did it outside.  I can't believe this is her last day of elementary school.  They had all the fifth graders go by class and get their certificate and have their picture taken with the principal.  Of course they had to do it alphabetically by the teacher last name, and of course Payton's teacher had to end in a W so her class was last to go up, and Payton with her last name of T was almost the last one in the class.  After that, the kids walk through the hallways and the other classes cheer them on and then they go to the nearby park and eat lunch and just play and have a great time.

At 1:00, I had to come back to the school for Kennedy's class party.  It was a Minute To Win It theme.  The kids rotated around the room playing lots of different Minute To Win It games.  Of course there was snacks to eat as well.   The kids were very hipper and excited that in a few minutes it would be summer vacation.

This was Brenton's last day of Middle School.  I can't believe next year I will have a child old enough for High School.  Brenton's school doesn't do anything for the 8th grade class as far as a graduation.  They did have fun events planned the last few days of school though.

Connor had a great year and I am very happy with his progress and with his teachers.  They are wonderful.  I looks like he will be in middle school for another 2 years before heading off to high school.  Because he is special needs, he can go to school until he is 21 so that is why he will be going to middle school for an extra year.

All the kids did very well in school this year.  They all loved there class and wish they could have the same teach next year.  They day that every year.  I love the school district we are in.  My family is very lucky and blessed to be in such a wonderful city.
