Trunk of Treat

Friday October 28th, we had our annual ward Trunk or Treat. Since it was wet and rainy outside, we had to move our location from the Hunter's Christmas Tree Farm to inside the church building. The kids were bummed out because they love going to the farm. We had the activity in the gym. First we started off with the usual hot dog and chili dinner. Since we weren't at the farm we couldn't do the other activities like roasting marshmallow in the fire or the hayrides. Instead, they had little carnival like games set up in some of the classrooms. To end the evening, the kids got to trick or treat inside the gym to parents who were lined up around the perimeter of the gym. It was a fun night and a good turnout. Hopefully next year, the rain wont be around.
Hayden and Kennedy were the only ones that I got a picture of that night.

Trunk or Treat

This years annual ward trunk or treat was at the Hunter's Christmas Tree Farm. The owners are members just outside of our ward boundaries (actually they are closer to us than some of our members in our boundary so not too much of a travel). The kids love going here for the trunk or treat. Last year we had to move it to the church due to rain. We were so glad there was no rain in the forecast. The evening started out with a chili cook off and hot dogs. Last year my chili came in 3rd but this year nothing. Oh well, I wasn't going for a placing so no big disappointment here. We had homemade rootbeer to keep things festive with the dry ice overflowing. It is
always a kid pleaser. They had a big fire going to keep warm and roast marshmallows at. The fire is hands down Brenton's favorite. They also had hayrides going. Jon took most of the kids on it while I stayed back at the fire to keep warm. It was starting to get quite chilly outside. Then at about 6:30 pm, the trunk or treating had begun. Jon decorated the car, had spooky music playing and passed out the candy while I went with Hayden trunk or treating. I'm guessing another 2 years and I will be joining Jon in passing out candy while the kids go by themselves. It was a fun evening. It is one of the ward activities we always look forward to.

Trunk or Treat

Every year our ward does a trunk or treat activity usually the weekend before Halloween. We always have it at the Hunter's Christmas Tree Farm. The Hunter's are a member of our stake they are right on the border of our ward. They have a huge bon fire going with hot dogs to cook and a chili cook off to eat for dinner. They also do hay rides, a cup cake walk, and the older kids can be found running around the farm and then when it gets dark we trunk or treat to the cars. This is one of the best and most fun activity we do as a ward. Of course things didn't go as planned this year. It decided to rain. So they moved everything to the church. We still had hot dogs (only boiled) and chili for dinner and the cake walk. Then the kids trick or treated to classrooms throughout the church. Yes, I brought my camera and no I didn't take any pictures (Looser). My chili did win 3rd prize though in the chili cook off. Thanks Betty Crocker. There were at least 20 different chili's there so not bad. My sister Christa's took 2nd. I was hopping my mom would take 1st so the Bugee's could sweep. We all had fun even though we weren't at the Hunter's.
